Elon Musk Publicly States His Reason For Buying Twitter
Musk says he bought the platform to help humanity and create a common digital town square
Early this morning, Elon Musk posted a statement to his Twitter account describing his reasoning for buying Twitter and his future goals for the platform.
He stated the main reason for acquiring Twitter is because he believes it's "important to the future of civilization to have a common digital town square where a wide range of beliefs can be debated.ā This is undoubtedly true, and with the draconian censorship being brought forth by Big Tech platforms over the last few years it is absolutely crucial for us to be able to have this kind of digital town square where differing opinions can be debated without the risk or fear of being cancelled for what is said.
What he says after that I think is even more pertinent, where he writes "there is currently great danger that social media will splinter into far right wing and far left wing echo chambers that generate more hate and divide our society.ā With many conservatives, patriots, and truthers being censored off of Big Tech and funneled onto alternative platforms like Telegram, Parler, Gab, or Truth Social, this is creating massive echo chambers for both the left and right wing. The left wingers are sitting there on Twitter and Instagram pushing whatever propaganda is fed to them by their algorithms. Then we have the right wingers who are creating their own echo chambers on the alt. platforms, and while it is nice to be able to share some truth on these platforms it is creating an extremist community to an extent, whereby crazy clickbait, disinformation, and batshit claims are shared with zero accountability and zero responsibility. It is not just helpful but almost crucial that we get both and all sides of the aisle together on one platform to hash everything out. It's like parents shoving siblings that are hating each other into the same room and forcing them to talk it out for the betterment of the family. Sure, we might look down upon Democrats with embarrassment and disdain but at the end of the day we are all humans and a part of the same humanity. We all need to examine our own beliefs and talk to each other to be able to find deeper truth and move forward as one society. Sitting our asses on Telegram or Truth Social all day is not going to accomplish this, and being censored off of mainstream platforms like Twitter is not going to accomplish this either. Less echo chambers, more discussion.
Elon continues and says "in the relentless pursuit of clicks, much of the traditional media has fueled and catered to these polarized extremes". No doubt this applies to the mainstream media and their propagandist click seeking evident by every paywall that you hit trying to read a New York Times or Washington Post article. This thought also applies to the so-called truth or patriot movement seeing as how many irresponsible influencers are click seeking on their pages and posting the most absurd, unverified bullshit for gullible followers to eat up. As Elon says, they're doing what brings in the money and prioritizing that over dialogue and truth seeking. He may not be referring to exactly what Iām describing here, but if the shoe fits.
I frankly think Elon's explanation here is a good one, and I'm excited to see what the future of Twitter holds.
What could that future of Twitter hold? Well, it could be leading us to the next stage in evolution of social media platforms whereby privacy is prioritized, the user experience is curated by the user themselves and not by the platform, and citizen journalists are able to speek freely and find new ways of monetizing content and supporting themselves.
Twitter could be the first platform to run on the BlueSky protocol, (it probably will be since they funded the BlueSky protocol). This would allow people to customize the algorithms that give them content and also be able to move their profile and data between different platforms. This means that the platforms themselves would not own the data, just be custodians of it while a user has an account on there. This could revolutionize the way that social media platforms operate and the way individual use them. BlueSky could change the game of social media.
Not only has Twitter been looking at integrating a protocol like BlueSky, but Twitter has already been integrating easy payment systems and tipping functions into their platform.
Imagine being able to get tipped in Bitcoin for simply tweeting your thoughts and reporting. This is the citizen journalistās dream, and would revolutionize the way that they cooperate. One major way that Big Tech has been waging war against the truthers has been from an economic standpoint. That is: PayPal, Patreon, Venmo, CashApp and platforms such as these censoring and terminating the accounts of truthers for political reasons. I have had my accounts on all of these platforms terminated, and it's been a struggle over the past year or two trying to literally put food on the table because of the economic warfare Big Tech is waging.
It would be a game changer if/when Twitter were to incorporate a payment or tipping function. They already are to an extent, and it appears like this is a goal that Elon Musk has his sights set on for the platform.
Elon replying to Zuby minutes after making his statement this morning saying that he absolutely thinks that Twitter should find a way to compensate partners and top creators on the platform. This is similar to how TikTok and YouTube pay content creators on their platforms to continue making content, incentivizing growth of the platform and also original content being created for it. This would be great for Twitter, especially if all of us were able to have our accounts back on there and report the truth.
I'm not sure what it would look like if we did get our accounts back. Would we get an email telling us that we can access our accounts again? I'm curious how that would operate. I would like the 200,000 followers back that Twitter took from me, Mr. Musk! Nevertheless, I do have a sock puppet account that I can activate if it ends up that we don't get our original accounts back. As soon as we get the greenlight I will be tweeting again, though I will still be posting to Telegram and Truth Social as well. Sometimes the echo chambers can be /cozy/. Canāt wait to get back into the infowar on Twitter though. Get some, MSM shillboys!
Here's to a bright future for Citizen Journalism.

Elon is spot on! We don't need echo chambers, we need dialogue...
Thank you, Jordan - you have captured a historic moment for our planet by reporting well on Elon's statements. It is a service to me, since I otherwise would not have access to these tweets. I'll be looking for BlueSky to kick in before I consider joining Twitter. What do you think of Michael Salla's speculation that the ET alliance has decided to partner with Musk's companies with the condition that Musk severs any ties to the opposition? I know many are wary of him and his motives...but Elon's actions and words in recent times seem to be aligned with the alliance. Time will tell...
