The number one goal of any immigrant is to bring in their families and friends. So typically we aren't just talking about one person coming in on a H1B visa. Personally, I've also talked to some who are here on the H1B visa who have no intention of assimilating and don't even bother to learn adequate English. So this isn't a black and white issue. There are valid second and third order effects.
Good article. Mediocrity worship has been raised to THE benchmark in the past few decades. It is analyzed in the book AMERICAN MEDIOCRITY. Wow! Mediocrity so great that it is branded.
I do not know how they are going to choose which illegal aliens (not immigrants) to be deported. There is a huge number of illegal aliens from many past years who found ways to blend in and make a living in the USA and not be operating in any illegal way. To me, many of those people should not be considered for deportation but should be made legal residents with full work permits.
I personally believe that we are in what are the "last days" or the "end times" or "the evil day."
I have always been suspicious of "AI Artificial Intelligence) and" ETs Extra Terrestrials" talk.
Here is a good video I just discovered today which tells us what is wrong with those ideas and why they are wrong.
A very good question. This crossroads is the most important one of our time. It is about education, who we are, how we work, and how we grow in the future. Our society has spent the last 100 years + functioning and being influenced in a certain direction over time, brick by brick.
The music has stopped for a moment as everyone scrambles for that last chair. Someone is out, a regrouping, and then the music starts again. Your concerns ask us a very important question and I thank you for asking it.
I remember how I felt having been used to the user interface of MS Word, which seemed logical and well laid out from my pov. Then came Facebook and it's less logical, chaotic, messy, confusing UI and I hated it. Hence, it never became my realm to 'live' in. I see now that was probably part of the obfuscation and intentionally/accidental muddying of the waters. It morphed and everyone got used to it, so now people no longer would understand my original complaint and think I was just being picky. So we adapt or get left behind. I instead stuck my toe into many different waters as a way to work around things. It led me to 4chan/8chan/Sather/Q/youtube/ reddit/voat/twitter/X22/a week in telegram/ skipped parlor/bitchute/Gab/TruthSocial/twitch/badlands/rumble/substack. Knowledge was picked up as I went (bounced around, growled at, canceled, blocked, silenced).
Sociology, the study of group processes (my major) helped me hover, watch, pattern recognize. No, I was not blinded by the Marxist light. Could sit still with such a big world out there to see. I'm more of a generalist. If the influencers of our next system grew up in several gens with group characteristics and cultures and family belief systems, then the merit vs population types vs family influences create the various pies (savory, fruit, chicken pot pie etc).
For example, a particular Malaysian family I know whose children excelled greatly (G.A.T.E./good colleges/good jobs etc). Grew up with demanding high expectations, disciplined even whipped. Ultimately good job, executive at said Facebook. Good income. Better than parents.
Verses an American Grafitti experience. Americana of yesterday. Created Star Wars and excitement, fired imaginations of Space travel, stories. What about those programming jobs by experienced programmers of old, who taught replacements to their jobs from other countries. The 'merits'? Perhaps it was the $ of such labor.
This time around, by golly, AMERICANS FIRST. Just retrain, work it through. I'm not adversed to others, just it is OUR time now and OUR kids time. My 20 somethings have paid the price now. I want them to get back what they have lost and build forward and grow to their happiness.
When the IT department of an American company becomes racist against non-Indian employees, that is a problem...and it happens, as anyone knows if they've worked for in IT. Just like when any family or group makes up a large percentage of a company, it can drastically alter a company's culture. Elon's a smart guy. Is he saying that he is incapable of training his employees or hiring workers who are already here? It truly becomes unfair when American workers are unable to move up inside an entire industry because folks like Musk would much rather just import a work force. The same goes to hiring Indian companies in India to perform IT duties, even though they don't understand the day to day workings of the American company on American soil. The point of any immigration plan should not be "what's of use" to the business leaders over the needs of the American public, nor should the American public be denied jobs by wealthy companies that are simply too lazy to look for or train Americans.
Excellent article, Jordan! None of this discussion can be a surprise to any of the "instigators". I think it is highly likely that they worked it out with Our President in order to put a spotlight on this aspect of immigration/culture/work ethic that desperately needs it. If so, it's working!
This is a common sense approach. No need to distrust based on starting the conversation that needs american backing eventually. Vivek is only one man with an opinion. He will show who he really is over time in the MAGA movement. His stance on J6 was shortsighted and i would hope he is or has rethinked his position on that as DJT wouldn't have allowed him to bebpart of DOGE if he didtrust him.
